Together for Venice and Its Lagoon in a Changing Climate
The event takes participants on a journey through a series of ongoing initiatives promoted by the CSRCC, offering opportunities to imagine and co‑create the future of Venice and its lagoon in a changing climate.
Through three perspectives — the gaze of younger generations, the ideas emerging from Climathon Venezia 2025, and the participatory process of the Venice Climate Assessment Report (VAR) — enriched by a scientific reflection on the challenges of climate adaptation for Venice and its lagoon by climatologist Piero Lionello, the event opens a space for the community to learn, exchange views, and take action for the future of the territory.
Why participate?
Because this is a unique moment in which schools, citizens, associations, and researchers come together to imagine the future of the lagoon. An exclusive opportunity to see the lagoon through the eyes of primary school children, discover innovative ideas waiting to meet your curiosity, hear one of the most authoritative voices on climate adaptation, and learn how to express your interest in contributing to the process that will lead to the first climate assessment report for Venice and its lagoon.
The event takes place during the Venice Climate Week 2026.

The event opens with the perspective of younger generations through the screening of a video created by students from IC Morosini in Venice, ICS Chioggia 4 in Sottomarina, and IC Enrico Mattei in Meolo. The video stems from the Ciak, si ambienta! and Che Clima Che Fa projects, developed by the schools in collaboration with the Dialogues for Futures Network, Halibut Film, and CSRCC. These projects led to a research‑action pathway in which students explored the lagoon environment, observing its beauty and fragility, and documenting their experience through footage produced and edited together with professional filmmakers.
The initiative combines outdoor observation and documentary filmmaking as tools to foster awareness of environmental challenges and of one’s own capacity to act. The screening introduces the event by offering an authentic and immediate perspective on the relationship between young people, the territory, and climate change.
Climathon Venice 2025 engaged citizens, students, professionals, and associations in a co‑creation marathon dedicated to the city’s climate challenges. During the event, several of the projects developed during the Climathon will be presented: ideas and prototypes that participants further refined through an innovation pathway offered after the Climathon, in collaboration with The Human Safety Net (Generali) and GreenerEU. These initiatives propose innovative approaches to making Venice more resilient, liveable, and sustainable.
This section of the event provides a space to share the teams’ work, opening their projects to dialogue and potential collaborations.
The Venice Climate Assessment Report (VAR) is a transdisciplinary initiative promoted and coordinated by the CSRCC, aimed at systematising knowledge on climate impacts, risks, and response options for the Venice lagoon. The VAR is not only a scientific synthesis: it is an open process that seeks to make Venice an open‑air laboratory where science, policymakers, and civil society collaborate to build a sustainable future.
During the event, the VAR transdisciplinary process will be presented, which aims to valorize the knowledge of stakeholders and local community on themes such as perceptions of climate change, sectoral impacts, local knowledge for adaptation, and shared visions for a sustainable future. The session will also outline how to express interest in contributing to the process.
